EA’s recent revival of the Command & Conquer series appears to be affecting every aspect of the series. Since last year’s Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, we’ve seen the first expansion pack announced, Kane’s Wrath, the first-person shooter Tiberium, and now Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. The original Red Alert still remains one of the greatest RTS games ever. While some games have arguably more depth, such as StarCraft, nothing beats the Command & Conquer series for pure RTS action. Screenshots and details should be out soon so we can get a better idea of what this game will be like compared to previous entries. The fastest way to get more info would be to pick up the latest issue of PC Gamer.

Two of the maps included in the three map download have been released previously, but it seems many people (including myself) missed them the first time around. However, with the release of the third map they grab at our attention once again, and all while being offered in one convenient package. Each release is reportedly harder than the last, including some interesting techniques that weren’t even used in any of Valve’s Portal levels. A designer from Bethesda Softworks (responsible for the Elder Scrolls series, among other things) has put great effort into these retail quality maps and released them to the public at no cost. Be sure and tell us what you think when you finish them! They even include Step, Time, and Portal challenges for those looking to go the extra mile. Download it now by clicking here.

Spore is an ambitious “god game” where you play the role of creator watching your creatures and worlds evolve through your own decisions. The game has been in production for over seven years, and numerous delays have caused many to label it as vaporware. EA & Maxis beg to differ, announcing that Spore will finally see release on September 7, 2008. The game will initially be available on PC, Mac, Nintendo DS, and mobile phones. Click below or head to their official site for the full press release.
